SMS Gateway

The term used to describe a service transforming messages to mobile network traffic from other media, or vice versa is known as SMS Gateway , and allowing transmission or receipt of SMS messages without the use of a mobile phone.

SMPP Gateway

Short Message Peer to Peer (SMPP) protocol is an open message-transfer protocol that enables short message entities (SMEs) outside the mobile network to interface with an SMSC. The non mobile entities that submit messages to, or receive messages from an SMSC are known as External Short Message Entities (ESMEs).

SMPP BIND TYPES

Transmitter

A connected SMPP client application has requested to bind as an SMPP client Transmitter (by issuing a bind_transmitter PDU) and has received a response from the SMSC authorizing its bind request. An SMPP client bound as a transmitter may send short messages to an SMSC for onward delivery to a Mobile Station.

Receiver

A connected SMPP client application has requested to bind as an SMPP Receiver (by issuing a bind_receiver PDU) and has received a response from the SMSC authorizing its Bind request. An SMPP Client bound as a receiver may receive short messages from an SMSC which may be originated by a mobile station

Transceiver

A connected SMPP client has requested to bind as an SMPP Transceiver (by issuing a bind_transceiver PDU) and has received a response from the SMSC authorizing its Bind request. An SMPP Client bound as a Transceiver supports the complete set of operations supported by a Transmitter SMPP client and a Receiver SMPP client. Thus an SMPP Client bound as a transceiver may send short messages to an SMSC for onward delivery to a Mobile Station. The SMPP Client may also receive short messages from an SMSC which may be originated by a mobile station

HTTP Gateway

The most common method for connecting directly to the Wifi Message Platform is via HTTP. This feature of the Wifi service allows developers to enable their applications with SMS functionality from within most programming environments. Sending via HTTP from within your application is as simple as generating a HTTP request that contains the relevant variables and sending them to the Wifi gateway, this can be in the form of a HTTP POST or GET. For example, you could use a standard HTTP GET request to send messages out via our gateway, incorporating your own scripting to send out messages that will debit credits from your Wifi account. The HTTP gateway has been implemented into many different business solutions including server monitoring & alert systems, contact management databases and many other advanced applications.
